Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away in 2021, was the husband of the late Queen Elizabeth II and served as the monarch’s partner from the day she became queen on February 6, 1952, until his death. Because of this, he set a record for the longest reigning royal consort.
Born into the royal families of Greece and Denmark, Prince Philip was only 18 months old when his family was forced into exile. He received his formal training in the French, German, and British educational systems. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1939, at the tender age of 18.
In 1934, Prince Philip met the late queen for the first time, and by July 1939, he was maintaining contact with Princess Elizabeth, then 13 years old.
