Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, born November 6, 1980, is a renowned investment banker and a respected Nigerian politician. As the son of the former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, Shuaibu Audu has carved a name for himself in the finance and political spheres.
Educated at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, Shuaibu Audu earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics in 2001. He further enhanced his academic credentials by obtaining a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious University of Oxford in 2013.
Shuaibu Audu’s professional career began in Lagos, where he served as an investment analyst at Stanbic IBTC. His skills and leadership abilities quickly earned him the position of executive director of the bank’s asset management subsidiary. After an impressive ten-year tenure as chief executive officer of Stanbic IBTC Investment, Audu decided to explore the political landscape.
An active member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shuaibu Audu pursued his political aspirations by running for the party’s gubernatorial primaries of the Kogi State chapter. Although he announced his intention to vie for the Kogi State gubernatorial election in February 2023, he lost the gubernatorial ticket to Ahmed Ododo in the primary elections held in April 2023.
Despite this setback, Shuaibu Audu’s political career continued to flourish. In August 2023, he was appointed as the Minister of Steel Development by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Today, as a devoted family man and a seasoned politician, Shuaibu Audu contributes significantly to Nigeria’s economic and political development.
