Renowned Nephrologist, Dr. Tunji Alausa, is celebrated for his achievements in the field of Nephrology and his dedication to providing optimal care for patients with chronic kidney disease. He is also the esteemed founder of the Kidney Care Center in the United States.
Dr. Alausa earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Lagos in 1993. He furthered his education by completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago between 1997 and 2001. In addition to serving as an Attending Physician, he held the esteemed position of Chief Medical Resident, responsible for coordinating training programs for interns and residents.
After his residency, Dr. Alausa was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical School. He then pursued specialized training in Nephrology and Hypertension at the prestigious Medical College of Wisconsin from July 2002 to June 2004. Prior to his residency in Chicago, he also underwent Residency Training in Internal Medicine at both the Royal Bolton Hospital and the University of Newcastle in the United Kingdom from 1995 to 1997.
Over the years, Dr. Alausa has made significant contributions to the medical community. His work has been instrumental in creating job opportunities for various stakeholders and assembling a dedicated team of professionals who share his vision across the United States.
He was recognized as one of America’s Best Physicians in both 2007 and 2012. His philanthropic efforts and commitment to providing optimal care for patients with chronic kidney disease in underserved communities have earned him numerous awards. He has also published several medical papers, with some appearing in the New England Journal of Medicine.
As a member of the Eko Club International Medical mission, Dr. Alausa has led numerous missions from the US to Lagos State. He is also an active member of Lagosians of Chicago, an association that brings together Lagos indigenes residing in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Dr. Tunji Alausa was recently honored with an appointment as the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the president, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on August 16, 2023.
