Breel Embolo is a professional footballer in Switzerland who is originally from Cameroon. He is a forward for Monaco of Ligue 1 and the Swiss national team. Breel Donald Embolo is his birth name, and he was born on February 14, 1997.
Breel Embolo and his family initially settled in France, but later relocated to Switzerland. After years of training with Basel’s youth teams, he debuted in the senior squad in March of 2014. Before joining Schalke 04 for an initial €20 million, he won the Swiss Super League in each of his first three seasons there. Shortly after moving to the Bundesliga, he sprained his ankle, which kept him out of action for almost a full calendar year.

Breel Embolo started playing football for Nordstern. Through Old Boys, he was accepted for the 2010 Basel youth programme. In the 2011–12 and 2012–13 seasons, he played for Basel’s U-16 squad. As a member of the Swiss U-16 squad, he won the championship twice. Only three weeks after turning sixteen, he signed his first professional deal with the team. In March 31, 2015, he earned his senior national team debut after coming on for Josip Drmi after 56 minutes of a 1-1 friendly tie against the United States in Zürich.
