In 1999, Frank Mba became an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). In 2003, he became a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP); in 2006, he became a Superintendent of Police (SP). In 2012, he became a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and, later, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). In March 2019, he was given the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). On December 19, 2020, he was promoted to Commissioner of Police (CP).
Before being transferred to the force headquarters in 2012, Frank Mba worked as the police public relations officer (PRO) in Lagos. From 2012 to 2014, he served in this capacity at the force headquarters. He used to be a part of the Nigeria Police Contingent that was part of the UN Peace-Keeping Mission in Liberia from 2006 to 2007. He got the essential UN Medal.
