As early as four, Thiago Almada was already playing football for Santa Clara, the same club where Carlos Tevez started. At the tender age of five, Vélez Sarsfield added him to their roster, and he worked his way up through the club’s youth academy. Just four months before he turned 17, Almada made his professional debut with the club in August 2018. In October 2018, he was included on The Guardian’s “Next Generation 2018” list. He debuted with the first squad as a flank forward for manager Gabriel Heinze. His teammates included Matas Vargas, Nicolás Dominguez, Lucas Robertone, and Fernando Gago.
